Lyric Theatre: £2.1M M&E Services
Works commenced on the M&E services within the new 4,300m2 redevelopment of the Lyric Theatre in Belfast during September 2009 with Gilbert-Ash. The theatre originally opened in 1968, however with ever increasing audiences and inevitable health and safety constraints, the Theatre closed its doors in 2008.
The new state of the art Theatre, designed by award-winning architects O’Donnell & Tuomey, sits on the banks of the River Lagan and promises to transform the cultural landscape of Northern Ireland. Scheduled to open in 2011, the new facilities will include a 394 seat main auditorium, 150 seat studio theatre, rehearsal room, dressing rooms, extensive riverfront foyers and bar, technical facilities and office accommodation.Total construction cost is estimated at £19million. The Lyric has raised 95% of project costs with a further £1million is currently being raised through various events.
